Food insecure households are those with economic and social conditions that result in limited or uncertain access to adequate food (EconomicResearchService, 2021). In 2021, 10.2% households in the United States (US) were food insecure at sometime during the year, with 6.4% as “low food security” and 3.8% --"very low food security” (EconomicResearchService, 2022). Hunger is a potential result of food insecurity, and both hunger and/or food insecurity has been shown to affect physical and mental health. (Feeding America, n.d.).
