The first twenty students came in from April 3 to November 16, 1896. They came without a single necessity. The original sixteen were Frank Brice, George Graham, Ella Grimes, Robert Hancock, Etta Littlejohn (the mother of Elder Charles Bradford - ( he was a college junior in 1946), Mary McBee, Nannie McNeal, Charles Morford, Mary Morford, Thomas Murphy, Lela Peck, Daisy Pollard, Grant Royston, Samuel J. Thomas, Frances Worthington, Harry Pollard.
